The back burner

forresttherapygrou

Recently, I've been confronted with a small decision, but I'm not sure what to do.

In the Jewish calendar, these upcoming weeks are a period of mourning for the Holy Temple's destruction. Some Jewish people choose not to make significant decisions during this time. These weeks may bring challenges, which got me thinking about my own decision. Thankfully, it's not urgent, so I've decided to wait until this period is over before reaching a conclusion. It's like putting my decision "on the back burner."

I discovered the "back burner" concept from my favorite self-help author Richard Carlson in his book "Slowing Down to the Speed of Life." Just as a stove's back burner is used for slow-cooking soups or stews, we can apply the same idea to thoughts, decisions, and ideas. They still receive attention, not avoidance, but are given time until more clarity or a deadline emerges. 🍲⏳🕯️
